AGRO-SELL Monika Górska has been present on the Polish fruit-growing market since 2005. It currently cultivates 30 ha of land and produces approx. 500 tons of blueberries per season. The fruits are sold on various European markets, including Germany, Great Britain, the Benelux countries, Italy, Croatia, and Spain. AGRO-SELL has the GlobalGAPCoC certificate.

  • What were the challenges?

    In 2020, foreign retail chains that AGRO-SELL cooperates with demanded that their suppliers use shrink-wrapped packaging. The real challenge was that this requirement appeared barely 2 months before the start of the season. The lack of a tray sealer in the production line could mean a loss of sales markets and very costly losses.

  • What did we do?

    The solution to the situation turned out to be a used Revolution tray sealer supplied by Milbor PMC. Our engineers integrated the device with the existing elements of the blueberry packaging line (fruit selection net, calibrator, inspection tables). The packaging sealing machine was delivered before the season, allowing the customer to fully exploit the potential of his plantation.

    Working with an efficient packaging sealing machine encouraged the customer to take another step towards production automation. In 2022, AGRO-SELL invested in a 12-scale G2 Evolution weigher. Until that point, the blueberries had been packed manually.

  • What was the result?

    The implementation of the sealing machine allowed AGRO-SELL to meet the expectations of retail chains and at the same time gain new sales markets where top seal technology is required. The investment significantly reduced labour costs because the tray sealer replaces several employees needed for manual closing of packages with lids.

    Adding the G2 Evolution weigh & fill machine to the line significantly accelerated the packaging process, made the company independent of the availability of seasonal workers and, above all, increased AGRO-SELL’s processing capacity. In 2020, the company packed approx. 200 tons of fruit, and in 2024 it was as much as 500 tons. What’s more, automatic packaging allowed AGRO-SELL to reorganise work in the packing room, and thus reduce noise and increase the safety of the crew, which has a positive impact on working conditions.

    My calculations prove that the investment in the top sealer allows us to save approx. 150,000 PLN each year. After considering leasing or credit costs, the investment pays off in 5-6 years, depending on the production volume.
