Bedstone Growers is a family company based in Shropshire, UK. The company produces about 150 tonnes of berries per year. Due to increasing labour costs, the company decided to start mechanical harvesting of blueberries for the fresh fruit market. The main problem was the increased amount of foreign material and unripe and damaged blueberries in the harvested fruit.
The Bedstone Growers decided to purchase WECO colour and softness sorters to improve the quality of the fruit going into the packhouse and to reduce the number of workers at the line. The equipment was sold and supplied by the Milbor PMC team and the new machines had to be integrated into the existing packing line.
Our team was responsible for the entire project from sales to installation and after-sales support. Our engineers installed the equipment, integrated it with a conveyor system from a third-party supplier, and trained the client’s operators.
