Frutal GmbH

A German company engaged in packing and selling a wide range of vegetables and fruits, mainly pomegranates and cherries. Fresh products reach consumers’ tables in various countries, primarily in Germany and Scandinavia.

  • What were the challenges?

When we first connected with Frutal GmbH, the company faced two main production challenges. The first related to the automatic packing of cherries, which required precise and fast weighing without compromising the quality of the fruit. The second challenge stemmed from the specific nature of pomegranates — a juicy fruit that leaves sticky stains and drips during weighing and packing, making work more difficult for both machines and workers. Packing pomegranates requires frequent equipment cleaning, which slows down the entire process and reduces the producer’s throughput. A key condition for cooperation from the client’s side was the guarantee of no underweight packages and minimising overweight ones, as excess weight is particularly costly for sellers of premium fruits like cherries and pomegranates.

  • What did we do?

We have been working with Frutal GmbH since 2017, during which time we have equipped the client’s packing facility with two lines.

The first line is for packing cherries and operates seasonally. Its main component is a 10-head weigher with a denester, which packs cherries into various packaging formats (including larger 500 g packages), along with conveyors, a top-seal machine, and a receiving table.
The second line is for packing pomegranates and operates year-round. In this case, we provided a smaller 4-head G2 Evolution weigher integrated with a traysealer.

  • What was the result?

The investment in the cherry line allowed the company to reduce the number of packing staff, thus lowering operating costs and avoiding problems with recruitment and staff retention. The cherry weigher enables very fast packing while maintaining high weighing accuracy, significantly improving efficiency during the season and reducing losses due to overfilling. The weigher can handle different packaging formats, giving the client flexibility to fulfil various orders.
The cherry line was so successful that the client commissioned Milbor PMC engineers to design the pomegranate packing line. In this case, we delivered a smaller weigher version with easily accessible components. Some parts of the machine can be removed without tools and washed separately, significantly reducing the time needed for daily cleaning.

  • Customer's comment

I am very satisfied with our cooperation with Milbor PMC. Our business relationship has lasted for several years now, and I can confidently say that I have never been disappointed. The lines were designed specifically for us, considering the dimensions of our facility and the specific challenges we face. The machine performance parameters promised by the supplier are confirmed in practice, allowing us to pack quickly and accurately, and thus earn more money. I also appreciate the fast and professional service. We continue to work with Milbor PMC, regularly modernising our machine park – adds Cina Panjideh, packing facility manager at Frutal GmbH.
