What sets the MXM BN.2 apart from other blueberry sorters?
Up to 3 tons of blueberries per hour
Line scan cameras process images faster than area scan systems. MXM BN.2 ensures high sorting throughput without taking up additional packing facility space.
Twice better fruit inspection
A dual-camera system sees 2x more of the fruit surface compared to single-camera machines. As a result, fruit that does not meet the criteria does not end up in the packaging.
Natural blueberry bloom defines quality
Premium customers pay attention to the appearance of blueberries. MXM BN.2 does not rotate the fruit while processing, allowing blueberries to retain their natural bloom. This is what retail chains are willing to pay more for.
Designed for mechanical harvesting
MXM BN.2 precisely removes unripe and undersized blueberries (with 50% higher efficiency than older machines), while also eliminating leaves, stems, and debris.
RGB and near-infrared analysis — simultaneously
This blueberry sorter offers advance optical inspection. The same 2K camera resolution as in advanced optical sorting lines, in a machine that costs significantly less and occupies a fraction of the space.
Fruit quality comes first
Every drop or rotation damages delicate fruit. MXM BN.2 minimises drop height and contact points. Fruit contact zones are made of flexible TPU, providing additional product protection.
Operator-error-resistant sorter
The Adaptive Soft Detection (ASD) system automatically sets sorting parameters. Operating MXM BN.2 does not require a specialist or week-long training. This is crucial when teams change every season.
Most issues resolved remotely
MXM BN.2 offers remote diagnostics. Our team can identify and resolve most issues without an on-site visit — no waiting for a technician and no lost days during peak season.
Cleaning in 20 minutes, not 3 hours
Cleaning time is a hidden labor cost. The open design of MXM BN.2 and easy access to components reduce washing time to just 20 minutes.
Start with rental — buy when you see the results
We offer the option to rent the sorter for the season, so you can see how it performs in practice and what profits it generates in your packing facility.
Who is the MXM BN.2 blueberry sorter for?
1. Medium and large blueberry growers (+30 ha) – the sorter allows you to quickly remove leaves, stems, and fruit that do not meet quality standards from mechanically harvested batches. As a result, with MXM BN.2 you can sell more high-quality fruit and generate higher profits from your production.
2. Companies managing large-scale plantations – high sorting capacity, up to 3 tons per hour, allows you to pack more fruit without expanding your packing facility or hiring additional staff.
3. Fruit trading companies – the machine verifies product quality from suppliers. MXM BN.2 quickly and accurately rejects fruit that does not meet end-customer requirements, while preserving the high quality of blueberries suitable for sale.

Time is money
Cleaning the sorter takes only about 20 minutes, instead of 3 hours as is the case with competing machines. As a result, employees finish their work faster, and during the season they can pack more fruit during a shift.
Low total cost of ownership (TCO)
Advanced graders are very time-consuming to clean, and they also require regular servicing and expensive spare parts. The simple and open design of the MXM BN.2 sorter makes the machine more cost-effective to maintain. We are talking about savings of up to PLN 100,000 per season.
Higher income with premium fruits
Precise sorting and gentle handling of the fruit allow you to sell high-quality produce and thus earn more from premium products.
Lower labour costs
The MXM BN.2 has been designed with mechanical harvesting in mind. The sorter removes unripe, small, and damaged fruit collected by the harvester, allowing you to save on plantation labor costs.
Shorter stoppages
Most potential issues with the MXM BN.2 can be resolved remotely, which significantly reduces downtime and thus improves operational efficiency at the packing facility.
How does Adaptive Soft Detection (ASD) work?
Fruit batches can change every day. Blueberries vary depending on the supplier, variety, or harvest timing. Traditional sorters operate with fixed settings, which means they may reject fruit that is suitable for sale. This lack of flexibility leads to measurable losses for the investor, as a standard sorter disqualifies good-quality fruit.
The MXM BN.2 features automatic tuning with Adaptive Soft Detection (ASD), which changes the rules of the game. ASD continuously analyzes the NIR distribution of the actual fruit population and automatically adjusts the rejection threshold for soft fruit. As a result, only blueberries that truly fail to meet customer requirements are removed. MXM BN.2 therefore delivers better sorting performance without operator intervention or downtime for machine adjustments.
Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ
What is the sorting accuracy?
It is difficult to give a definitive answer to this question, as the sorting process is influenced by many factors that determine the machine’s performance. These include, for example, the quality and uniformity of the raw material, the presence of dew, frost, or contaminants, as well as the sorter settings.
We conducted numerous tests on batches of 170–300 incoming blueberries. We analyzed the number of good and defective fruits—soft, undercolored, and undersized—both before entering the sorter and after sorting.
We observed that when the share of fruit requiring removal did not exceed 15%, the sorter achieved an accuracy of over 95%. In cases where the quality of incoming fruit decreased and the share of fruit to be removed exceeded 25%, the sorting accuracy was around 90%.
What certifications does the device have?
The sorter has been designed in accordance with CE standards. The structure is made of stainless steel, and all components that come into contact with the fruit are certified for food contact.
How is the machine configured?
All settings are adjusted via an intuitive HMI panel. We have also implemented an automatic tuning system (auto-tune) for gentle sorting adjustments.
Is it possible to arrange two sorters in series?
Yes, this is possible, and we can supply a conveyor between the machines.
Can I rent a blueberry sorter?
Yes, machine rental is available. Please fill out the form and contact a sales representative.
What is the size sorting range?
The machine is designed to remove undersized fruit, typically in the range of 8–12 mm.
Can data be monitored in real time?
Yes, the system displays a trend report on the HMI screen.
Can the machine operate with different sorting programs/profiles?
Yes, operators can save sorting settings for different varieties and fruit quality levels.
Will the machine receive updates? If so, how?
Regular cleaning of lamps, cameras, and belts (main and reject) is required. The condition of the belts should be checked once a week.
What is the recommended cleaning frequency?
Daily cleaning is recommended; however, thanks to the machine’s open design, the entire process takes no more than 20 minutes.
What cleaning agents can be used?
Detergents intended for use with food-processing machinery can be used. Corrosive agents and those containing chlorine should be avoided.
Does the machine (especially cameras) require calibration?
No, the cameras are calibrated during production and do not require further calibration.
Is remote diagnostics available?
Yes, the machine is connected to the Internet, and our technicians can perform remote repairs.
What does service support at Milbor PMC look like?
If an issue cannot be resolved remotely, we immediately send a service technician to the customer upon receiving the report.
Do you provide training on how to operate the sorter?
Yes, as part of the implementation, packing facility staff are trained in the operation and maintenance of the blueberry sorter.
Why trust Milbor PMC?
We have been operating in the fresh fruit production automation market since 2013. During this time, we have completed over 200 projects improving operations for growers and packing companies in Europe and Morocco. Our own experience in blueberry cultivation allows us to fully understand the customer’s perspective and offer optimal solutions.
Are blueberries rotated during sorting?
No, the fruit is not rotated. The goal of MXM is fast and efficient removal of undersized, overripe, and unripe fruit. Rotation can affect fruit quality (reducing bloom) and slows down the sorting process. Instead, we use a dual-view camera system, allowing the machine to inspect up to 80% of the fruit surface.
How many outputs does the machine have?
MXM is not a grading sorter. It operates on a “pass/no pass” basis and has one reject conveyor to minimize fruit drops and increase process speed.
