Fieldstone is a Polish family-owned soft fruit company. Since the establishment of the first, and currently the largest and most modern cranberry plantation in Europe, the company’s key value has been the high quality of the fruit and the development of this market segment in Poland and internationally. Currently, the producer’s offer includes blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. Due to the continuous expansion of production and increasing problems with finding qualified employees for specific positions, the client decided to automate the sorting and packing processes for blueberries.

  • What were the challenges?

    In response to the ever-increasing demands of the recipients, the client’s key need was a solution that allowed insight into the quality of the fruit, sorting according to the exact requirements and specifications of the various markets, and the ability to analyse the data based on production reports. The final solution also aimed to significantly reduce the number of employees required on the production line.

  • What did we do?

    We provided the client with a comprehensive solution, which consisted of the sorting and packing stages of blueberries. The state-of-the-art AirJet® Blueberry Grader not only separates the fruit according to basic categories (size, softness, colour), but also sees the internal damage to each individual product.
    The packing machine weighs and then packs the fruit into various types of packaging. The control system allows for continuous monitoring of the line and reporting on the various stages of the work. The solution was tailored to the client’s current capacity, but also so that it can meet production volumes over the next few years

  • What was the end result?

    As a result, the client has not only increased its production capacity, but has also been able to reduce the number of employees needed in production and reduce product waste, resulting in increased efficiency throughout the production process.
