The young Beerengut team had ambitious development plans and strong arguments in the form of a thriving plantation to make them happen. However, growing labour costs and the increasing difficulty of finding workers willing to work on the plantation and in the packing facility were holding them back. To overcome these challenges, the company’s management decided to invest in an automatic blueberry packing line. After analysing several offers, they chose a packing line from Milbor PMC.

In 2024, we installed at Beerengut an automatic blueberry packing line with a 6-scale G2 Evolution weigher from A&B Packing Equipment. In addition to the weigher, we also supplied feed conveyor and a distribution conveyors. The entire system was integrated with the sorter already operating at the customer’s facility. The shape and size of the line were adapted to the packing house layout and to the business goals set by the client before making the investment.

The investment in the blueberry line allowed Beerengut to reduce the number of packing staff from 35 to 8 people. Such an excellent result and significant savings were achieved thanks to the full automation of the process. Staff are mainly needed to feed the first conveyor with loose fruit, collect closed packages, and supervise machine operation. Importantly, the automatic blueberry line with the G2 weigher reduces overfill levels to just 2 g per package, works at high speed, ensures process repeatability, and minimises downtime.
