Growing production and longer working hours in the pack house turned the company to the point where they started to consider a step towards automated packing. An additional argument was the need to adapt to packaging standards demanded by the sellers and distributors on export markets. Considering European trends, as well as the numerous advantages resulting from closing packages with heat-shrinkable film, OVOC decided to purchase a tray sealer, specifically SL4 sealing machine delivered by Milbor PMC. This decision was driven not only by the good parameters of the machine itself, but also by the successful earlier implementation of other machines and their integration with the customer’s infrastructure performed by Milbor PMC.

In 2021, after delivering a system for labelling the top and bottom of packages, OVOC increased its production speeds. Positive experiences from previous cooperation made it easier to integrate the tray sealer with the rest of the soft fruit packaging line. We installed the SL4 tray sealer machinery in 2022. As part of the implementation, OVOC farm employees underwent a one-day training in the operation of the machine, which enabled the use of the device from the very beginning.

By closing the packages with heat-shrinkable film, OVOC secures a high level of safety during transport for their gentle products. Simultaneously, the company OVOC runs innovative raspberry and strawberry cultivation, producing approx. 500 tons of strawberries and raspberries per year., which increasingly require manufacturers to have packages closed with a thin layer of film. By deciding to invest in the SL4 tray sealer, OVOC gained access to sales markets that rely on top seal technology. At the same time, the company saves on labour costs because the tray sealer works automatically and does not require constant employee involvement, which was an issue with boxes closed with a lid.

The positive experience with the purchase of the labeller made Milbor PMC the firsts-choice supplier for us when we were looking for a tray sealer. This time, everything was also delivered as agreed. The machine works with the efficiency that we were told about at the stage of presenting the offer. Although the SL4 sealing machine is relatively easy to use, our employees benefited greatly from the training conducted during implementation. I also appreciate the prompt response of the service if necessary and the access to spare parts from the warehouse located in Poland.
